Causes
- Occipital neuralgia is most commonly caused by pinched nerves in the root of a person's neck.
- Sometimes this is caused by muscles that are too tight in a person's neck.
- In some cases, it can be caused by a head or neck injury.
- Chronic neck tension is another common cause.
Symptoms
- Aching, burning, and throbbing pain that typically starts at the base of the head and radiates to the scalp.
- Pain on one or both sides of the head.
- Pain behind the eye.
- Sensitivity to light.
- Sensitivity to sound.
- Slurred speech.
- Pain when moving the neck.
Exercise for neuralgia
